Case Study
We recently completed re-roofing with solar PV on this charming old terrace home in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. While this property isn’t listed, it’s around 150 years old and hold significant historical interest. We made sure to preserve it’s beautiful old stone frontage and gable end. We think the transformation perfectly blends the charm of the past with the innovation of the future!
Our team worked diligently to ensure every detail was respected, keeping the essence of the property intact while adding a sustainable twist. The new solar panels not only enhance the home’s energy efficiency but also contribute to a greener environment.
We’re thrilled to see this historic gem shining brighter than ever!🌿🔆 Thank you to everyone involved in making this project a success. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to bring modern solutions to historic spaces in Hebden Bridge.
Our client chose to go green with solar PV panels and battery storage! They also opted for enhanced insulation, new slates, and a brand-new Velux roof window.
Not only are they reducing their carbon footprint, but they’re also making their home more energy-efficient and comfortable. With these upgrades, they’re set to enjoy lower energy bills and a more sustainable lifestyle. It’s inspiring to see more people taking steps towards eco-friendly living.🌿
We safely set up scaffolding on all sides of the building to meet health and safety standards. The old blue slates, which had been patched up multiple times by other roofers, were beyond repair, so we removed them. The majority of the original slates were either delaminated or broken and were covered in bitumen, rendering them unusable.
After the slates were taken off, we added extra insulation at the wall plate level to stop cold bridging. We then covered the roof with TLX Gold insulated felt, starting from the wall plate and going over the whole roof. New battens were installed according to BS5534 standards, along with lead work around the three chimneys.
We also installed a Velux window in the roof’s center and arranged solar PV panels in a grid of eight around it, leaving space for the window. Custom brackets were fixed directly onto the main roof rafters, and individually made lead soakers were used around them. Finally, we placed new Spanish blue slates on the roof.
This project was completed in two weeks by our dedicated two-man Heritage roofing team.
